The world is flooded by the misuse of fuels and the CO2 emission and other greenhouse gasses. The consequences of this misuse of energy on the climate is becoming clear. The average temperature in Belgium rises and it is possible that heavy rains, winds and storms will increase. Therefore, Kortrijk organises the Klimaatweek (Climate Week) and highlights the climate challenges and seeks solutions!
Kortrijk already knows several creative and green developments such as stadsboerderij, transitiestad Kortrijk, Volkstuinen at the Venning, Natuurtuin Desloovere and Leielekkerland. Several initiatives who will make the city greener and livable. And convivial.
Now, Kortrijk organises from 14 till 21 of February 2016 its third Climate Week. Kortrijk wants to become a true climate city! Clean air, fresh water, durable mobility... these are some of the challenges the city imposed upon itself. During the Climate Week, the city assess how far their initiatives reach and they organise climate actions together with several partners.
A new initiative is renovation. Kortrijk strives to insulate 30.000 roofs in the city. More information on the program is accessible at Stad Kortrijk, we already selected several highlights:
