As students of the KU Leuven University we are taking initiative to make the world a little bit more sustainable, because we believe that students can make a change. Luckily, not only the students themselves are trying to make a difference, also the universities are working on providing students with information and tools to be(come) more sustainable.

Did you know that if you are a student at the KU Leuven University you have a lot of opportunities to gain more knowledge about sustainability in the educational programme? Primarily, the university is of course a place where you can learn. So above all the university should be able to make students more aware about the changing environment through their educational programme. KU Leuven offers some courses about this topic. Firstly they offer study courses about sustainability in different degree programmes. Moreover they offer an interdisciplinary Sustainable Development course that aims to provide students with insight into the necessity and potential of sustainable development. To enlarge the sustainability awareness the university has partnerships projects in which they offer a wide range of interesting courses on the environment, ecology and sustainable development. The Lifelong Learning for the Environment project will present a limited selection of these courses in the following academic year. If you are a student at the KU Leuven and you want to enlarge your knowledge about sustainability through your degree programme or by taking courses, take a look at this site for more information: https://www.kuleuven.be/duurzaamheid/sustainability/education.

The KU Leuven also has a lot of great initiatives for students that can help you to become more sustainable, like the veggie bag. Every Monday you can get a surprise package of organic fruits and vegetables. They have different options to choose from: you can choose a package with mixed fruits and vegetables for six euros, a small package with only veggies also for six euros or a large package of veggies for twelve euros. It is a very simple concept. You order your package and pay a week in advance. The next week you can pick it up at one of the pick-up spots close to your home! Not only is the package very healthy, but it is also environmentally friendly. Everything is packed in sustainable wrapping and the content is locally produced. If you want to know what the content is of the veggie bags is you can follow their Facebook-page.

Of course the university has a lot more to offer. Take a look at this site for more information: https://www.kuleuven.be/duurzaamheid/sustainability/index.
