Sustainability is a hot topic now - and rightly so! If we want to preserve our planet (read: rescue it from imminent death), we have to act now. In light of the Paris Climate Conference, we’ve got some more tips for you! The Paris Conference has made a good exit and all countries involved have now promised to do their very best! But there is much more you can do yourself!
Remember to always try to eat locally produced vegetables and fruit. These will usually be produced according to season – which actually gives your cooking skills some nice variation.
IF you don’t have to take the highway, just go by bike! It’s that much friendlier for the environment, and for yourself! There are some nice features to going by bike or even by foot. It’s easy to run into some friends or just take a good look at your beautiful surroundings. And, as you don’t have to buy gas, your wallet is spared from any violation.

It’s possible you have to go by car. No problem, just drive economically and eco-friendly! Turn the airconditioning lower or off or clean up your trunk – less weight means more power. Driving efficiently can be equivalent to more eco-friendly driving!
During wintertime, it’s very easy to take a long, hot shower. Yet, all this spoiled water can be harmful to our environment. So, try to take a shorter shower – or take a shower together…

One again, when heating water in the water heater for your coffee or tea, don’t fill the water heater all the way to the end. It’s no use. You’re heating up water, only to let it cool off 5 minutes later. Just boil the water you’ll need, and spare your wallet and the environment. If you’re cooking potatoes, pasta or vegetables, it’s not necessary to boil liters of water. Just boil the water you need, and you’ll be good to go!
Letting the dryer spin is usually not even necessary. It’s better for your clothing to let them dry on a rack then to let them spin and maybe shorten or wreck them. You’ll save a lot of water, a lot of electricity and a lot of money.
Electrical appliances can easily be turned off! It’s not necessary to let the water heater be plugged in – just turn off all electrical equipment that you don’t need.

You’re probably reading this now on your computer… You probably haven’t actually thought about it, but your computer can produce more energy than it should. Which makes your battery go out more rapidly, so changing your settings on your computer might even save you the trouble of having to plug it in if the battery will fail. The brightness of your computer takes a lot of energy and set your computer on sleeping mode after 2 minutes or so. Nearly 65 per cent of the computers energy is consumed while the computer isn’t actually working for you.
Delete your emails! PLEASE! One click on the delete button will serve to delete all your spam. Your mailbox is saving all emails that aren’t necessary. The saving of these emails costs loads of energy. Just unscribe yourself from mailing lists or just click the delete button, because the saving of those emails actually produces CO2 out in the air. You can check the massive impact of emails on our planet and our environment here:
